Magnus Shirt

Magnus Shirt

At the 2021 World Chess Championship, Magnus Carlsen defeated Ian Nepomniatchi in Game 6 in what's now the longest World Chess Championship game in history that lasted 136 moves and lasted nearly 8 hours of game time.

This game is what inspired the "Magnus Shirt", which features the entire move order from this historic game printed on the front, while the sleeves are embroidered with the final pieces on the board upon resignation. This shirt also features our first ever custom buttons seen all over from the middle buttons to the sleeves.

This piece is a blend of inspiration and consistent ideation, as it took 4 samples across 2 manufacturers and roughly 1 1/2 years from being designed in photoshop to being officially released. While I believe the shirt isn't the most "aesthetically pleasing" garment made, I believe that's fair to say for most of what we make.

I find the purpose and idea to often be much more important than the visual aspect, and even at times more than quality. I'm incredibly satisfied with how this project turned out, and will always strive to make the next one that much better. Thanks for tuning in
